1. What is Wireless Internet?

Wireless Internet access is a form of high speed, or broadband Internet access, that uses a radio frequency instead of phone or cable lines. When using Wireless Internet, your computer is always on the Internet.

2. What equipment does the customer need?

The customer will need a fixed wireless antenna (provided by Advantas Wireless), a network card, or an open PCI slot in their computer.

3. How fast is the Internet connection?

Advantas's wireless connection is capable of providing upload/download speeds up to 10 Mbps (Megabits per Second). Our WiMax offering is capable of providing even greater throughput. Contact us for details.

4. Where can I buy the wireless network antenna?

You don't have to. Advantas provides the fixed antenna as part of the installation. Advantas retains ownership of the premise equipment so that we can service/maintain the equipment to provide excellent Internet connectivity.

5. Will I have to learn anything new to use this system?

If you already know how to use a Web browser you will find our system totally transparent. Your computer remains online at all times. You click on your browser icon, and you are online with no delay, and no waiting for a connection.

6. Do you need a phone line?

No phone lines are needed to have Advantas Wireless services. Our Wireless Internet connection will allow you to send and receive information, making it your complete Internet solution.

7. Is your service like cable modems ADSL?

Cable Modems and DSL require physical wires and middlemen like the phone and cable companies. With Wireless Internet, customers are not dealing with any physical wires. Also Wireless Internet customers are dealing directly with the ISP, which means there is no need for a separate ISP.

8. Is Internet access unlimited?

Yes, Advantas Wireless Internet access enables your computer to stay connected 24 hours a day 7days a week 365 days a year. There are no time limits of how long you can use your computer.

9. Is your service the same as satellite Internet service?

Wireless Internet is not like satellite Internet solutions, which upload and download via the dish antenna to a satellite located thousands of miles above the earth. Our wireless signal only travels a few miles to an access point located on a tower. Also, unlike satellite Internet, our system is not affected by certain weather conditions.

10. Can I use a VPN connection with your service?

Absolutely. Our customers can use a VPN from their home to connect to their corporate office. This allows our customers to work from home.

11. How secure is my computer?

Advantas guarantees the security of the wireless and IP network, it does NOT guarantee the security of your personal computer. Advantas typcally installs a router with firewall capability to prevent outside intrusion into your computer. Viruses and spyware prevention however is up to you.

12. How long will it take to get service?

The first step is to submit a site survey request to ensure that we can provide service to your area. Once the survey is completed and the service area is verified, Advantas usually will install service within 72 hours.

13. What do I do if I have any problems with my service?

You will need to contact our customer service department at 505-599-8180, please leave your name and number and a technical support person will solve your problem as soon as possible.
